Q How do I register in Distance Education courses?
A Contact the Undergraduate Advising Office

Q How can I make sure all my courses are okay for graduation?
A Contact the Undergraduate Advising Office and ask for a Grad Check

Q Can I take Anatomy 390/391 to use towards my science credits?
A Yes, and also BIOC 300 and PHYL 301.

Q How do I register in HKIN courses if I am not in Human Kinetics?
A You are only eligible to register in the wait list section.

Q What GPA do I need in order to stay in Human Kinetics?
A You need 60% in 60% of your course load. For example, if you were registered in 30 credits then you must pass 18 credits with an overall average of 60%.

Q What are the different HKIN 454 sections and their pre-requisites?
A HKIN 454 A is athletic training with third-year standing and HKIN 361, HKIN 454B is Kinesiology and Health with third-year standing, and HKIN 454C is Physical and Health Education with third-year standing and HKIN 369.

Q What are the pre-requisites for Physiotherapy?

Q Where do I find admissions information?

Q When are students admitted to the School?
A Students are usually admitted for winter session which starts in September and ends in April.

Q How many students are admitted?
A The number varies from year to year. The average number admitted to the School per year is 200.

Q Can I combine two programs?
A No.

Q Does the School have quotas for special classifications of students? (Mature, Out of Province, Second Degrees)?
A No.

Q Once accepted to the School of Human Kinetics, do I have to select a program stream?
A Yes, before registering in 3rd year.

Q Can I change my Program of Study?
A Yes, with approval from the Undergraduate Advising Centre.

Q How do I select my Non-Human Kinetics courses?
A Read the details of the program stream you wish to select. As part of upper level Non-HKIN requirements, each Program stream requires the completion of a minimum of 18 upper level Non-Human Kinetics credits.

Q If I am on a Wait List, should I attend the class I am hoping to get into?
A Yes, as long as you are on the wait list.

Q How do I know if I have been moved into a class from a waiting list?
A Check the Student Service Centre.

Q What should I do if I am unable to write an exam or complete other course requirements?
A You must seek an academic concession.

Q What do I need to fulfill Faculty of Education Performance Requirements For Secondary Education?
A Consult the Faculty of Education website for the teacher education program.

Q If I didn’t receive a transfer credit that I think I should have received, what should I do?
A Make a written request to the Undergraduate Advising Centre and provide course description and outline and a copy of your transcripte.

Q I heard the School of Human Kinetics is implementing a new curriculum for the academic 2004/05 year. How will this affect me?
A If you are a returning HKIN student or a 2nd or 3rd year transfer student who has completed the 1st year HKIN core courses then you must follow the old curriculum. If you are a new student direct from high school or a transfer student who has not completed the first year HKIN core courses then you must follow the new curriculum.

Q If I am a returning student can I change to the new curriculum?
A No, the new curriculum is being phased-in one year at a time starting with 1st year in 2004-2005. This means that only students entering 1st year in 2004 or later will be able to follow the roll-out of the program.

Q Can I combine the old and new programs?
A No, as the new curriculum is phased-in, the old curriculum will be phased out. They are not intended to overlap.

Q If I am a new student where do I find information on the new program?
A The current UBC Calendar.

Q If I am a returning or college transfer student where do I find information on the old program?
A Since the old program has been phased out, you should contact the Undergraduate Advising Office
