FAQ's

Q. I heard the School of Human Kinetics is implementing a new curriculum for the academic 2004/05 year. How will this affect me?

A. If you are a returning HKIN student or a 2nd or 3rd year transfer student who has completed the 1st year HKIN core courses then you must follow the old curriculum. If you are a new student direct from high school or a transfer student who has not completed the first year HKIN core courses then you must follow the new curriculum.

Q. If I am a returning student can I change to the new curriculum?

A. No, the new curriculum is being phased-in one year at a time starting with 1st year in 2004-2005. This means that only students entering 1st year in 2004 or later will be able to follow the roll-out of the program.

Q. Can I combine the old and new programs?

A. No, as the new curriculum is phased-in, the old curriculum will be phased out. They are not intended to overlap.

Q. If I am a new student where do I find information on the new program?

A. The current UBC Calendar.

Q. If I am a returning or college transfer student where do I find information on the old program?

A. The HKIN Program Planning Guide.
