program Streams (for students enrolled post Sept. 2004)
Human Kinetics Streams
UBC Human Kinetics focuses on the biophysical and psychosocial dimensions of human movement. The revised BHK program has three streams that make us unique among Canadian universities.
Three Streams in the New Program
Kinesiology and Health Science
This stream prepares you for advanced studies in human movement science and health and fitness, and for future certification and work as a Kinesiologist.
Physical and Health Education
This stream prepares you to teach sports, physical activity and active health in public and private agencies, and meets admission requirements for the Teacher Education Program in the UBC Faculty of Education.
Interdisciplinary Studies in Human Kinetics
This stream enables you to draw on the diverse course offerings in Human Kinetics and custom design your own program of studies.

Elite-Level Research Facilities

The Human Neurophysiology Laboratory, which is the first lab in Canada to use a specialized nerve recording technique called microneurography.
Dynamic Careers
Human Kinetics graduates go to work in teaching, coaching, fitness or lifestyle professions; in exercise therapy; or in sport, leisure and fitness organizations. Graduate studies can lead to careers in medicine, physical or occupational therapy and education.
