The HKIN Computer Lab is a facility
designated for the exclusive use of Human Kinetics students,
faculty and staff. It is located on the lower
level of War Memorial Gym in room 120. The lab provides
access to the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint) as well as Internet access.
The
lab is comprised of 24 Windows/Intel-based computer workstations. Greyscale Laser printing is provided at a cost
of five cents per page. Print cards can be purchased in the main office, Room 210. |
computer lab hours The lab is generally open from 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday
to Friday. There are times when the lab is booked for weekly HKIN
course laboratories. During these times the lab is only available
to students scheduled for that session. All other students will
be asked to leave. The lab may also be closed for special course
bookings or for maintenance and repairs.
Course
bookings and TA schedules are posted on the lab door at the
beginning of each term.
technical support Technical
support for the computer lab is provided by a full-time Systems
Analyst and by graduate student TA’s. The Systems Analyst’s office
is located in room 120A, within the computer lab. Students requiring
technical assistance with use of the computers or software should
first direct their questions to the TA, and when the TA is not
available they may consult with the Systems Analyst. If the Systems
Analyst is unavailable a message can be left at 604-822-8991 (there
is a phone located in the lab) or by email hkin.systems.analyst@ubc.ca.
education computing services The
School of Human Kinetics falls under the Department of Education
and, as such, all HKIN students are entitled to apply for a
computer account at Education
Computing and Media Services (CMS). CMS has both a Windows/Intel
lab and an Apple Macintosh lab. The CMS facility is open 24/7
but the labs are unavailable during scheduled course bookings.

website.
