1 | EMG in the Biomechanics LabThe equipment used for recording the depolarization of muscle fibres includes electrodes, an amplifier, a grounding device and a ground wire. The electrodes used are silver-chloride electrodes, encased in a plastic structure. These also feature preamplifiers, which amplify the electrical signal at the site of the electrode. This is beneficial as it allows for reduction of noise at the source of the signal, as well as reducing artifacts caused by movement of the electrical cables.
The lab EMG amplifier allows 7 input EMG signals. This permits simultaneous recording of EMG at seven locations on the body. The grounding wire, shown below, allows the current to flow through the body.
