About the Fitness Centre
Operated by the UBC School of Human Kinetics in Osborne Centre Unit 2, this fitness centre caters to the adults who work on or live nearby the campus. The Facility runs two programs, the UBC Changing Aging™ program, for Older Adults (60+), and the UBC BodyWorks™ program, for working professionals in their pre-retirement years. The facility has a wide range of fitness equipment suitable for a variety of workout regimes.

The program is truly unique in that The School of Human Kinetics is committed to the integration of university academia, teaching, research, students, emeriti, alumni, and the local community. Highly certified undergraduate students from the UBC School of Human Kinetics learn leadership and fitness management skills from the operation of the Fitness Centre while the patrons enjoy the students' endless enthusiasm and level of professionalism. The Centre is dedicated to the betterment of the Older Adult population and diligently focuses its efforts towards leading the country in quality fitness programming.Our only goal is to improve your Quality of Life
and health status by focusing on Functional Active Daily Living fitness programs geared specifically for you.

Our Objectives
As a facility which caters to adults, we understand that health promotion and disease prevention is the key to aging gracefully. The emphasis of our fitness centre and its programs is to help members learn how to take control of their aging process, to increase independence and quality of life. Group oriented fitness classes (spin, functional, tai chi & Iyengar Yoga) are offered and led by qualified instructors. Some objectives of the classes and personalized programs are to improve: - cardiovascular health, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, build bone density, maintain a healthy weight, enhance social and mental health. If you are a working professional in your pre-retirement, or post-retirement years than this program is for you!
