Program Coordinator:
Michael Sergeant
Mike Sergeant is a Certified Level 2 Gymnastics Coach and holds
an
Undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics from UBC. A former national
competitor, Mike has been involved in gymnastics for the better
part of
his life. Coaching for nearly a decade, Mike has coached all levels,
ranging from parent and tot classes up to provincial level athletes,
which
has given him a vast knowledge of the sport. Mike believes that
gymnastics
can be beneficial to all populations. Through the strengthening
of major
and minor developmental movement patterns, along with a strong
base of
balance and spatial awareness, Gymnastics can help any individual
have a
better base for any other sport.
Mike has worked with a number of sports groups that have cross
trained their athletes in gymnastics in order to aid in their
performance. Such groups include competitive dancers, cheerleaders,
stunt doubles, and practitioners of martial arts such as capoeira.
Mike can be reached at 604-822-2606 or by email at sergeant.michael@ubc.ca.
